Sekhukhune United edge Richards Bay 3-2 with late winner

Sekhukhune United beat Richards Bay 3-2 on Saturday after Ellis Rammala scored the winning goal in the closing moments.

The result kept Sekhukhune in sixth place and strengthened their position inside the league’s top eight after a third win of the season.

Tshepo Mokoena gave the visitors an early lead before defender Ndongani Gilbani O’Neil made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute with a strike from inside the penalty area.

Richards Bay fightback falls short

Richards Bay responded through Xulu, who scored twice to level the match at 2-2 with four minutes of normal time remaining.

Rammala then scored the decisive goal at the end of the match to secure all three points for Sekhukhune.

The defeat was Richards Bay’s fourth in seven matches. The KwaZulu-Natal side remained third from bottom with three points.

Sekhukhune’s win adds momentum to their push for a top-eight finish, while Richards Bay remain under pressure to improve their results after a difficult opening run.

The teams’ positions can change as the remaining weekend fixtures are completed, but Saturday’s result guarantees Sekhukhune the points from the five-goal contest.
