A Harare woman has been fined US$200 after being caught with cocaine.
Lisa Eden Murdoch pleaded guilty when she appeared before Harare magistrate Lisa Mutendereki, telling the court she had become addicted to the drug.
The court heard that on 2 September 2026, detectives got a tip-off that Murdoch had cocaine at a house in Banchory, Mandara.
They went to the address and found her holding something in her hand. When they identified themselves and asked to search her, she clenched her fist tightly to hide a sachet containing whitish granules believed to be cocaine.
After a brief struggle, the detectives managed to prise the sachet from her hand. She was arrested and taken to CID Drugs and Narcotics in Harare along with the substance.
A field test carried out in her presence came back positive for cocaine.
The recovered drug has a street value of US$80.
