Bank Windhoek has invested N$250 000 in Namibia’s first Creative Sport Tourism (CST) Expo, supporting an initiative to promote small businesses, tourism and the country’s creative industries.
The three-day expo, which opened on Wednesday at the Hage Geingob Stadium, brings together the creative, sport and tourism sectors on a single platform to create business opportunities, attract investment and showcase local talent.
The bank said its sponsorship forms part of its commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and economic growth. It will also use the event to introduce its updated Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Customer Value Proposition to entrepreneurs, exhibitors and other stakeholders. Bank Windhoek executive officer for marketing and corporate communications, Jacquiline Pack, said the expo provides an opportunity to connect businesses and communities with new markets.
“The Creative Sport Tourism Expo speaks to the heart of what Bank Windhoek believes in, which is connecting people, businesses and communities to opportunities that help them grow,” she said.
Organised by Emerald Sand Platforms, the CST Expo is expected to draw more than 18 000 visitors over three days. The event features exhibitions, SME showcases, networking sessions, workshops and conferences, and highlights Namibia’s creative industries, sporting talent and tourism attractions.
Artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers and content creators are among those exhibiting their work and engaging with potential clients and investors. The programme also features fashion shows, theatre performances, visual arts exhibitions and the CST Awards.
Sporting activities range from football, rugby and netball to cycling, chess and e-sports, while the tourism section promotes local destinations, cultural villages, culinary experiences and community-based tourism businesses.
Pack said many people working in the creative, tourism and sport sectors are entrepreneurs whose businesses contribute to job creation and economic development.
She said the bank’s sponsorship is an investment in the ideas and businesses that have the potential to grow Namibia’s economy while creating opportunities for local communities.
