Chloe Pink and North Melbourne defender Toby Pink shared some ‘heartbreaking’ news on Wednesday, revealing their embryo transfer ‘didn’t stick’.
The couple announced on Saturday that they had officially undergone their first embryo transfer amid their IVF journey.
However, it would seem the transfer has been unsuccessful, with the pair breaking the news to fans with a lengthy Instagram post.
‘We decided to slightly delay sharing our initial transfer post, as we wanted to give ourselves some time to process the outcome privately, whatever that might be,’ Chloe, 26, wrote.
‘Unfortunately, we’ve just found out that our little embryo didn’t stick, meaning our transfer wasn’t successful.
‘Obviously, this has been incredibly disheartening and heartbreaking, but unfortunately, it’s also the reality of this journey.’
Chloe went on to say she and Toby, 28, were unsure whether they would try another transfer soon or take a break from their efforts to conceive.
‘We’re just taking things as they come,’ she said. ‘We’re so grateful for everyone’s excitement, hopefulness and ongoing support.
‘I know some people might think we’re oversharing, but at the end of the day, infertility is something so many people experience, yet it’s still something that isn’t spoken about enough.
‘If sharing our journey helps make infertility even slightly less taboo, or makes just one person going through it feel a little less alone, then I’ll continue to share the good, the bad and everything in between.’
Chloe finished the message by thanking her followers ‘for being there, for cheering us on and for holding hope for us when things feel a little heavy’.
Alongside the message, the AFL WAG shared a black and white image of herself and Toby sharing a kiss while taking a mirror selfie.
She also shared a photo of her sonogram from the first embryo transfer.
It comes just days after Chloe and Toby shared a video to TikTok announcing their first embryo transfer following a trip to McDonald’s.
The footage began with Chloe miming the words ‘I have an announcement’ before flashing up an image of her sonogram.
Toby’s hand then entered the frame proudly holding a large McDonald’s fries.
‘Our embryo is on board,’ she captioned the footage alongside two crossed fingers emojis.
Chloe has been open in the past about her struggles with endometriosis and polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
She spoke with the Daily Mail about her fertility issues and IVF journey in August when she appeared on The Debrief with Savanna Young.
Chloe revealed IVF treatments had ‘consumed’ her life and caused a rollercoaster of emotions, but she was hopeful that she would one day become pregnant.
‘It’s so consuming. You have appointments every day. You have injections every day. You have needles every day. You’re waiting on answers every day,’ she said.
‘You’re crossing your fingers every day. It’s so consuming. It consumes your whole entire life. As much as you try to not let it, it naturally does.
‘You just have so much going on with it that it’s so consuming. And also it’s a rollercoaster… You have hope and then your hope is shattered.’
She added: ‘I know we’ll have a child. Hopefully more than one.’
