
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Cross River State Council, has announced the death of a journalist and correspondent of Ibom Nation Newspaper, Enya Ndem, who passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
In a statement on Friday in Calabar, signed by the Council Secretary, Mike Abang, the union said Ndem was a member of the Correspondents Chapel of the NUJ in Cross River State until his death.
The union expressed deep sorrow over his death, describing his passing as a huge loss to the Nigerian media industry.
Ndem was described by the council as a committed journalist and respected colleague whose contributions, particularly to the growth of digital journalism in Nigeria, would remain memorable.
The statement read, “The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, regrets to announce the death of our colleague and member, Mr Enya Ndem, who passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026.”
The council said its leadership, in collaboration with the leadership of the Correspondents Chapel, has reached out to the deceased’s family to offer condolences and support.
“While we mourn yet another painful loss within our professional family, we urge members to remember the deceased, his family and loved ones in their prayers at this difficult time,” the statement added.
The union prayed that God grant the family strength to bear the loss and grant Ndem eternal rest.
“It is our prayer that the Almighty God grant his family the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss, and grant our departed colleague eternal rest and repose in His bosom,” the statement said.
