Joy Prime’s Edith Agbeli honoured at African Corporate Summit & Awards

Channel Manager and Brand Lead of Joy Prime, Edith Agbeli, has been honoured with the African Diamond Award for Impact Leadership and Management in Mass Media in Africa at the African Corporate Summit & Awards held on September 26.
The recognition marks a significant milestone in her career, which spans finance, business strategy and media management. It also highlights the contribution of professionals working behind the scenes to shape television content, support creative talent and build media brands.
Agbeli brings more than 18 years of professional experience to her work. Before joining Joy Prime, she served as Finance Manager, where she worked within the business of television production.
Her transition into channel leadership brought together two sides of her professional experience: an understanding of the financial discipline needed to sustain a business and an interest in developing content that connects with people.
As Channel Manager and Creative Director, she oversees Joy Prime’s programming and brand direction, working with presenters, producers and other teams to strengthen the channel’s offering.
Her responsibilities involve balancing audience expectations, creative ambition and commercial priorities in a competitive television market.
Her work at the channel has included supporting programmes that create opportunities for emerging talent and bring a range of experiences to the screen.
These include Beatz & Barz, which provides a platform for rappers to showcase their abilities, and Big Chef Junior, which gives young contestants an opportunity to develop and demonstrate their culinary skills, Changes, Prime Insight, Let’s Talk, among others.
The recognition also draws attention to the demands of media leadership beyond what audiences see on screen. From developing programme ideas to coordinating teams and managing limited resources, channel management requires decisions that influence both the viewing experience and the long-term direction of a brand.
Beyond her corporate role, Edith is an author, speaker and mentor. Her book, Beyond Perfection: Building a Strong and Fulfilling Relationship, explores the effort and understanding required to build meaningful relationships.
The African Diamond Award adds to her previous honours, including the “Woman Behind the Scene”, Africa’s 100 Most Influential Women awards and prestigious Author of the Year recognition.
For Edith Agbeli, the latest recognition marks another chapter in a professional journey that continues to bring together business management, creative development and leadership in Ghana’s media industry.
