Same hospital benefits from Yas maternity support

SAME, MONDAY: SAME District Hospital, which handles between 270 and 300 deliveries every month, has received maternity equipment and supplies from Yas Tanzania to strengthen maternal care and help address shortages at the facility.

The support, provided through Yas’ Tumaini Campaign, includes delivery beds, wheelchairs, bedsheets, khangas, aprons and maternity kits for expectant mothers and healthcare workers.

Speaking during the handover, Yas Northern Zone Director Henry Kinabo said the initiative reflected the company’s commitment to supporting communities alongside its continued investment in telecommunications services.

“As we continue to invest in communication services, we also want to make a difference in the communities we serve. Through the Tumaini Campaign, our aim is to support expectant mothers and help improve the care they receive during childbirth,” Kinabo said.

He said some of the donated items were contributed by Yas employees through the Tumaini Campaign, while others were provided under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Acting Nurse-in-Charge at Same District Hospital, Endutuja Mbwambo, welcomed the support, saying the facility’s high number of deliveries creates a constant demand for maternity equipment and supplies.

“We receive around 270 to 300 women for delivery every month, so the need for these supplies remains high,” Mbwambo said.
She said the donation would help healthcare workers improve maternity services while addressing some of the shortages faced by the hospital.

The support comes as private-sector initiatives continue to complement public health services through the provision of essential equipment and supplies to health facilities serving growing communities.
Yas said the Tumaini Campaign continues to support health facilities in different parts of Tanzania, with a focus on strengthening maternal and child healthcare services.

The initiative is part of the company’s wider community support efforts, alongside its core investment in telecommunications and digital connectivity across the country.
