'My home away from home': Gachagua takes Wamunyoro spirit to Dallas as he meets Kenyans

DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua is in Dallas, Texas, as he continues his tour of the United States, where he is engaging Kenyans living and working in the diaspora.

Dallas has taken on a familiar feel for the DCP leader, who has described the state as his “home away from home” during his engagements with Kenyans.

And there was a distinctly Wamunyoro touch to his visit.

Gachagua shared photographs of a Texas residence displaying an “I Love Wamunyoro” sign, a familiar symbol associated with his rural home in Mathira, Nyeri County.

During a visit to Dallas in August 2025, Kenyans in the diaspora welcomed Gachagua with a “Karibu Wamunyoro, Texas” sign at a residence where he and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, were hosted. Reports at the time said the sign was created by his hosts as a replica of the signage at his Wamunyoro home.

Gachagua's US tour has included engagements with Kenyans in different states, with diaspora meetings forming a key part of his programme.

In Texas, he is expected to continue listening to members of the Kenyan community and discussing issues affecting Kenyans living abroad and developments back home.
