The DA has released ward candidates for all 112 eThekwini wards ahead of South Africa’s 4 November local government elections.
The Democratic Alliance has announced ward candidates for all 112 eThekwini wards as political parties step up preparations for the 4 November local government elections.
The party presented its candidates in Durban on Monday, saying the slate included people drawn from business, faith organisations, civil society and community structures.
DA eThekwini mayoral candidate Haniff Hoosen said the selection process involved consultation with voters, civic organisations and communities.
The announcement follows the IFP’s decision to name Mkhuleko Hlengwa as its mayoral candidate in the same metro.
eThekwini will be among the most closely contested municipalities in the election. The metro includes Durban and surrounding urban and rural communities.
The DA said its candidates would contest every ward rather than concentrating only on areas where it already holds seats.
The party did not publish projected vote shares with Monday’s announcement. Candidate nominations remain subject to the Electoral Commission’s formal election timetable and requirements.
Other parties are also finalising ward lists and mayoral candidates as the municipal campaign moves into its final months.
