The Phobians are level on 14 points with the leaders but sit second because of an inferior goal difference. A victory would strengthen their title credentials and put them at the summit.

Hearts of Oak arrive having won consecutive matches for the second time this season. They followed a 1-0 away victory over Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex last weekend, and have taken two wins, two draws and one defeat from their past five league games.

Their defensive record has been a key feature of their campaign. In seven matches, Hearts have scored eight goals and conceded only twice.

They have also been unbeaten at home in the league this season, collecting two wins and a draw from three matches at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The Phobians have scored five times there without conceding, but will need to overcome a difficult record against Basake Holy Stars on their own ground.

In their two previous home meetings with the Ayinase-based club, Hearts of Oak have failed to win, drawing one and losing one without scoring in either match. They will be aiming to end that sequence while maintaining their defensive strength and finding greater attacking efficiency.

Basake Holy Stars travel to the capital in fifth place after a 1-0 home win against Bechem United FC last weekend. That result took them to four victories in seven matches, a total matched by no other side in the league before this fixture.

The Ayinase side have 12 points, with five goals scored and seven conceded, as they make an encouraging start to their third successive season in the top flight. Three wins in their last five league games have given them a strong platform ahead of a demanding away assignment.

Their form on the road, however, has been a concern. Basake Holy Stars have lost all three of their away league matches this season, scoring once and conceding seven goals. They will need to improve significantly in that area if they are to take anything from a Hearts of Oak side that has proved difficult to break down at home.

The visitors can take confidence from their overall record against the Phobians since winning promotion to the Premier League in the 2024/25 season. Across those meetings, Basake Holy Stars have recorded one victory and one draw.
