Nollywood actress and filmmaker Caroline Hutchings has announced that she is stepping away from reality television, saying her time on The Real Housewives of Lagos has come to an end.
Hutchings made the announcement in a social media post, describing reality television in Nigeria as exhausting and saying she values her personal space and relationships with people whose energy aligns with hers.
She also clarified that she does not consider any of the Real Housewives of Lagos cast members her friends, stressing that her kindness should not be interpreted as friendship.
According to the actress, her participation in the show has sometimes overshadowed other aspects of her life and career, including her experiences, expertise, work, motherhood and personal life.
“The curtain closes on RHOL,” she wrote.
Hutchings said she had built a career in the Nigerian entertainment industry for more than two decades before joining reality television, working as an actress, producer and storyteller.
She said her body of work includes more than 60 films, award-winning productions and 10 movies currently in the pipeline.
“I have entertained you through RHOL, just as I have through the many movies I have been privileged to be part of. But reality television is one chapter, not the definition of my career,” she said.
Hutchings concluded by thanking viewers for their support and declaring that she was returning to what she described as her core identity — “a filmmaker, an actress, and a storyteller.”
