Uba Sani Most Committed Northern Governor To Tinubu’s Re-election, Says Aide
The senior special assistant to Kaduna State Governor on Public Affairs, Victor Mathew Bobai, has described Senator Uba Sani as the most committed governor in Northern Nigeria to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Bobai made the assertion in a reaction to Sani’s remarks at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna and a subsequent television interview, during which the governor defended Tinubu’s administration and urged his re-election in 2027.
The governor’s aide said Sani’s support for Tinubu was based on what he described as tangible federal interventions in Kaduna, arguing that voters should assess the President’s performance through projects and policies rather than regional sentiments.
On other road projects, he referenced the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, saying about N740 billion had reportedly been committed to the project, with Sani putting its level of completion at approximately 95 per cent. He also mentioned the Zaria-Soba-Kambuwa and Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Birnin Gwari road corridors.
The aide further cited the proposed Kaduna Metropolitan Light Rail project, saying the governor had disclosed that $865 million was approved for the scheme, with $300 million paid to the contractor as mobilisation.
He also pointed to the handover of Ahmadu Bello Stadium to the Kaduna State Government, which plans to rebuild the facility into a 33,000-seat stadium that meets international football standards.
In education, Bobai cited the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal University of Education in Zaria. He also mentioned proposals for the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Petroleum Studies and the conversion of Kaduna Polytechnic into a federal university of technology.
Bobai also challenged opposition parties to present their records and explain how their policies would address Nigerians’ needs, arguing that the 2027 election should not be reduced to regional identity.
He cited Sani’s ambition to secure a decisive victory for Tinubu in Kaduna, noting that the governor had described an opposition candidate winning even 25 per cent of the votes in the state as a failure for the APC.
