Social media has been awash with discussions after Fatra Mia Kawinga, the second wife of late former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) vice-president Sidik Mia, opened up about the estate battle that followed his death.
Fatra made the revelations during an interview on the* Face to Face* podcast hosted by Nicole Kamwendo, where she spoke about her relationship with Sidik Mia, the challenges she allegedly faced and the dispute over his estate.
According to Fatra, offers made to settle matters relating to the estate allegedly shifted from K150 million to K100 million and later K50 million, before she ultimately received nothing.
Fatra said her relationship with Sidik began while she was still in secondary school and that she was later sent to South Africa as Sidik became increasingly involved in government.
She further claimed that Sidik’s first wife, Abida Mia, was aware of their relationship but opposed his decision to marry her.
Fatra also alleged that Abida once chased her with a gun, while claiming that she faced further threats and public attacks surrounding the dispute.
The revelations have since sparked debate on social media, with the interview generating widespread discussion about Sidik Mia’s family, relationships and the handling of his estate.
The claims made during the interview have not been independently verified.
