The Kogi State Police Command, in a statement issued on Monday by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, said the victims were rescued during a coordinated, sustained and intelligence-driven operation.
According to the statement, the operation was launched as part of efforts to secure the safe recovery of the victims, dismantle criminal networks operating in the area and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
The Command, however, disclosed that the operation was still ongoing, with security personnel intensifying their search for other victims who may still be held by the kidnappers.
It said the joint forces were also pursuing the perpetrators while conducting operations within and around the forest to prevent further attacks and secure the affected communities.
