Anambra to streamline law enforcement groups to curb excesses

Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has resolved to streamline the state law enforcement groups to eliminate function overlap and proliferation, according to the State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Law Mefor.

He said the move will also enhance their functionality, reduce conflicts, and improve accountability to the citizens.

The decision he noted was part of the resolutions of the State Executive Council meeting which held at Light House, Awka.

“Council also resolved to repossess and repurpose all occupied government lands in the state. This decision followed reports of widespread encroachments on government lands, as well as the growing need for land for government projects.

“Those illegally occupying government lands are advised to vacate them, as there may be no further notice before government crackdown and repossession.

“The Council also decided to carry out integrity tests of students’ hostels in schools around the state to ensure the safety of students at all times. The Material Testing Lab in the state is to be upgraded, and the law establishing it is to be strengthened to ensure reliable integrity tests at all times.” Mefor said.

The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation said that the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC) is poised to be launched in earnest, with the government actively inviting potential investors to engage in discussions, emphasising essential enablers such as access roads, electricity, water supply, and security.

Ahead the Thursday’s Independence Day celebration, the Council called on Ndi Anambra to brace up for this year’s celebration on October , with the State Government at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
