ALGIERS: SEVERAL companies from Algeria have expressed interest in strengthening trade and investment cooperation with Tanzania in key sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, energy, leather, fisheries, and consumer goods.

Speaking during the 57th Algiers International Trade Fair (FIA), currently taking place in Algeria, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Algeria, Mobhare Matinyi, said several Algerian companies have started seeking opportunities to partner with Tanzanian businesses in trade and investment.

He said among the companies that have shown interest is GISB, which plans to invest in the production of electrical cables using copper raw materials available in Tanzania.

GETEX has also expressed interest in purchasing sisal and cotton from Tanzania as well as investing in the leather sector, while SARL CPC is exploring opportunities to trade in sardines and tuna fish from Tanzania.

In addition to investment opportunities, Algeria has shown strong demand for Tanzanian products, including coffee, cashew nuts, bananas, soybeans, rice, powdered milk, and beef, goat, and sheep meat.

Through its participation in the FIA exhibition, Tanzania continues to promote its investment, trade, and tourism opportunities with the aim of attracting international investors, expanding markets for its products, and strengthening economic relations with various countries.
