Enticing golf tourney spices up 2026 French Week celebrations at Kitante

World over, Golf is a known game that forges and builds relationships on the course and beyond.

Numerous multi-billion projects have been discussed and sealed prior to, during and after a swift round of 9 or 18 holes’ action.

The game of golf itself proper provides room for open discussions for ideas in the enviable natural confines as the players share light moments, drive off, chip to approach and putt into pins; meanwhile they exercise the bodies.

It is against this backdrop that the organizers of the 2026 French Week celebrations opted for an all-inclusive golf tournament at the par-71 Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, Kampala.

This year’s French week started with a simple golf tournament on Saturday, 19th September bringing together business leaders, corporate partners, French Chamber of Commerce Uganda (FCCU) members and other invited guests. Beyond the sporting activity, the tournament provided an informal setting for networking and strengthening relationships among the French, Uganda and international business communities.

Her Excellence Virgine Leroy, the French Ambassador was chief guest at the championship.

The French week started with a golf tournament to enjoy the relationship between France and Uganda. It was also to network and to also boost the green energy. Uganda is one of the countries that have a natural green. French week is about boosting the economy and strengthening the relationship between France and Uganda.

The French week in Uganda will run until 23rd September 2026 under the theme “Green Transformation”.

French week was inaugurated in 2025. It is a flagship initiative of FCCU that brings together the French, Ugandan and international business communities, to strengthen economic relations, promote invested and create opportunities for business partnerships and collaborations.

It will focus on the opportunities and challenges presented by Uganda transition towards a greener, more sustainable and innovative economy.

The 2026 programme combines business networking, economic dialogue and recognition of excellence providing direct platforms for business, government, investors, development partners and other stakeholders to connect and engage.

Tuesday, 22nd September 2026 is ear-marked for the business and economic forum the theme “Green Energy, Decarbonisation and Digital Finance in Agricultural Sustainability.

The forum will examine how innovation, technology and finance can contribute to a more sustainable, resilient and competitive agricultural sector in Uganda.

The French week will conclude with a dinner and Awards gala on 23rd of September bringing together distinguished guests from the business, diplomatic, government and development communities.

The Gala will celebrate excellence, innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship while recognising individuals and organisations whose contributions support Uganda’s economic development and stronger France – Uganda business relationships.
