Barcelona have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus for €10 million plus add-ons, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The 29-year-old has been authorised by Arsenal to travel to Spain and undergo a medical before completing his move to the Spanish champions.
Neither club had officially announced the transfer at the time of publication, but Romano gave the deal his customary “here we go” confirmation.
Jesus is poised to leave the Emirates Stadium four years after joining Arsenal from Manchester City for approximately £45 million in July 2022.
The Brazil international played an important role in Mikel Arteta’s rebuilding project but struggled to establish himself as the club’s undisputed first-choice striker, with injuries repeatedly interrupting his progress.
His opportunities became increasingly limited following the arrival of Viktor Gyökeres and the return to fitness of Kai Havertz.
Arteta recently confirmed that Jesus was no longer training with Arsenal’s first-team squad because of the number of senior players available to the club.
Barcelona’s move for Jesus gives the Catalan giants an experienced forward capable of playing centrally or across the attacking line.
The relatively modest €10 million initial fee reflects the striker’s contractual position and his diminished role at Arsenal, although add-ons could increase the final value of the transfer.
Jesus previously spent six seasons at Manchester City, where he won four Premier League titles before moving to north London in search of a more prominent attacking role.
Completion of the transfer remains subject to the Brazilian successfully passing his medical and agreeing the final contractual formalities.
