Obuasi SHTS: Adansi chiefs perform cleansing rituals after abuse allegations, fetus discovery

Chiefs and elders of the Adansi Traditional Council have visited Obuasi Senior High School to pour libation and perform cleansing rituals following allegations of sexual abuse against the school’s headmaster and claims that items had been buried on the school premises.
The traditional authorities undertook the rituals amid concerns surrounding the allegations and the discovery of a male fetus on the school campus, an incident that reportedly contributed to disturbances at the school in August 2026.
The libation and cleansing rituals are intended to address the spiritual and communal anxieties associated with the incidents.
According to the chiefs who led the ritual, the incidents have casted a cloud of doom on the Adansi land, hence the cleaning.
They prayed for an end to sickness, curse and misfortune that have befallen the land due to the alleged actions of the Headmaster.
The origin, they suspect, is the discovery of the fetus on school compound, as well as the cries of 19 students who allege to have been sexually abused by the said headmaster.
The discovery followed reports by some students that they had seen the headmaster emerging from a location on the school grounds with a cutlass. The students reportedly raised an alarm, leading to the examination of the site and the eventual exhumation of the foetus on August 5.
Police subsequently took the body of the baby boy to the Obuasi Government Hospital for preservation as investigations continued.
The discovery and the allegations against the headmaster heightened tensions at the school, prompting concern among students and members of the wider community.
