HARARE – Sonja Louise Madzikanda, the ex-wife of late millionaire businessman Wicknell Chivayo, has reached an agreement with his family to become co-executor of his estate alongside his sister, Esther Chivayo.
Madzikanda’s lawyer, Rungano Mahuni of Mahuni Gidiri Law Chambers, formally notified the Master of the High Court of the agreement on Tuesday.
“We are pleased to advise that, following consultations between the interested parties, consensus has been reached for the appointment of co-executors to the estate, the co-executors being Ms Sonja Louise Madzikanda and Ms Esther Chivayo respectively,” he wrote.
The lawyers said the parties had signed a written agreement and requested that it be placed on the deceased’s estate record for consideration.
Madzikanda, who was previously married to Chivayo, shares two young children with the late businessman.
Esther Chivayo is represented by Caleb Mucheche of Caleb Mucheche and Partners Law Chambers.
The proposed co-executorship arrangement is subject to the Master of the High Court’s consideration and approval.
The executors will compile Chivayo’s inventory of assets, consider debt claims and decide how the assets are distributed.
Madzikanda was suing Chivayo for a $25 million divorce settlement at the time of his death.
Chivayo, 43, died on September 30 in a helicopter crash at Kudenga Farm in Marondera, Mashonaland East, alongside his wife, Lucy Muteke, her aide, Sanelisiwe Magagula, and two pilots, Captain Kelvin Soda and Captain Courage Mutavirwa.
