The Israeli army has launched a series of airstrikes and drone and artillery attacks on towns in south Lebanon
The Israeli army launched a series of airstrikes and drone attacks on southern Lebanon on Saturday, while attacking several towns with artillery. Israeli forces also set fire to homes and wooded areas in border areas.
Among the towns targeted weere Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Mansouri, Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh, and Qaaqaiyet al-Jisr.
Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) said that Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on Saturday afternoon targeting the area between Al-Deir and the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge, north of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
The strikes came after the town was targeted twice by drones during the morning. An Israeli drone carried out a strike at around 8:55 am local time, before another drone struck the town for a second time.
Israeli warplanes also struck the town of Mansouri in two separate waves, and later in the afternoon targeted the valley between the towns of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh and Qaaqaiyet al-Jisr in Nabatieh Governorate. Around the same time, Israeli artillery shelled the town of Haris.
In another attack, the Israeli army began setting fires in the area between Aita al-Jabal and Haddatha in the morning.
Strong winds caused the fires to spread, consuming areas of woodland and vegetation. Firefighting teams have faced difficulties reaching the area and extinguishing the blazes.
NNA also reported that Israeli occupation forces set fire to homes in the town of Beit Yahoun. No immediate information was available regarding the extent of the damage caused by the attack.
