When can you pre-download GTA 6?
GTA 6 pre-downloads begin on November 10, 2026, with different start times for each platform:
- PS5: November 10 at 12:00 a.m. local time.
- Xbox Series X|S: November 10 at 12:00 a.m. GMT.
The game officially launches on November 19, so digital buyers have nine days to get the installation out of the way.
Rockstar has also confirmed that physical code-in-box versions will become available from participating retailers starting November 12. These editions contain a download code rather than a game disc, allowing buyers to install the game digitally.
You can find the timings and platform-specific instructions in Rockstar's official pre-load announcement.
How much storage space does GTA 6 need?
Rockstar says the GTA 6 pre-load will require up to 212GB of available storage, depending on your device.
That's a considerable amount of space, so it's worth checking your console before November 10 rather than discovering you need to delete games when the download window opens.
On PS5, you can check your available space by going to Settings, selecting Storage and reviewing your console storage. Delete games or applications you no longer use if you need to free up room.
Xbox Series X|S owners can check their available space through Settings and the Storage devices menu.
If you're running short on space, both platforms offer storage expansion options. PS5 owners can also use a compatible M.2 SSD for additional internal storage or an external USB drive to store games.
