Over GH¢800,000 worth of goods destroyed as truck catches fire at Amanfrom

Goods estimated at more than GH¢800,000 have been destroyed after a truck carrying refrigerators, generators, gas burners and chairs caught fire while its occupants slept along the Apedwa-Kibi road.
The driver and two other occupants escaped through the windscreen after waking up to alerts from passers-by that their Kia Rhino truck was on fire at Amanfrom in the early hours of Thursday, October 8.
The three had reportedly stopped to rest while travelling from Tema to Kumasi and had fallen asleep before the fire broke out.
The truck, with registration number GE 4273-26, was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters from the Kibi Fire Station arrived at the scene.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said its crew received the distress call at 3:14 a.m. and arrived in minutes.
The crew used two hose lines with foam to bring the fire under control at 4:00 a.m. before extinguishing it completely at 4:28 a.m.
No casualties were recorded, but the goods loaded onto the truck were lost. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
