Information accidentally published on the DStv website suggested that the pay-TV broadcaster is set to launch a sports-focused package as part of an overhaul of its service offering in South Africa.
DStv is set to launch a sports-focused package on Thursday, 17 September 2026, as part of an overhaul of its service offering in South Africa.
DStv Compact, available for R399 per month on a streaming-only package, will be transformed into DStv Sport.
It will feature SuperSport’s Premier League and UEFA content, PSL, international cricket, local rugby, one URC match per week, and the UFC. It will also retain some entertainment content.
DStv Sport will not offer Formula 1, MotoGP, premium international rugby, such as Springbok matches, golf, and ATP tennis.
In addition to the package changes, DStv will introduce a brand-new Movies & Series product priced below DStv Premium, which will include the pay-TV operator’s flagship M-Net channel.
It will be the first time since DStv launched in 1995 that it has made M-Net available on a lower-tier package.
Aside from these changes, DStv’s operating company in South Africa plans to reorganise its packages as follows:
DStv EasyView
, at R29 per month, was not mentioned in its plans.
Starter
, at R99 per month (formerly DStv Access), will include 85 TV channels, including sports like Premier League matches of the week on the SuperSport Kickoff channel.
Select,
at R299 per month (formerly DStv Family), will offer 100 TV channels, carry SuperSport’s PSL soccer content, and include M-Net’s Mzansi Magic and Nickelodeon’s kids channel.
Sports
, at R399 per month (formerly DStv Compact), will offer 115 TV channels, including SuperSport’s Premier League and UEFA content, as well as T20 cricket.
Movies & Series
, at R500 per month, will offer 115 TV channels, including M-Net, which has only been available on DStv Premium.
DStv Compact Plus
, at R549 per month, was not mentioned. MyBroadband understands it will remain largely unchanged.
Premium
, at R799 per month, will offer 130 TV channels and include Formula 1, MotoGP, premium rugby, such as Springbok matches, golf, and ATP tennis.
All prices listed above are for DStv streaming-only packages. MyBroadband understands that the subscription fees for DStv’s decoder-based packages will also remain the same.

Webpages accidentally published on DStv’s website leaked the company’s plans ahead of a media briefing scheduled for Monday, 7 September, in Johannesburg.
The pages were only up briefly, but long enough for media outlets and other eagle-eyed viewers to take screenshots.
Based on the leaked information, all channels and content available on DStv Access through DStv Compact will change dramatically, even though the pricing tiers remain unchanged.
The webpages showed that DStv Premium will stay the same, and MyBroadband understands that DStv Compact Plus will also be largely unchanged.
MultiChoice told MyBroadband in 2025 that it was investigating unbundling its SuperSport channels as part of a broad review of its channel composition to address changing consumer preferences.
The pay-TV broadcaster said it had accelerated efforts to explore potential changes to the composition of its DStv packages.
That included considering whether certain bundled elements, such as SuperSport and general entertainment, could be offered differently in future.
Contacted for comment following the leak, the MultiChoice pay-TV broadcast service licenceholder in South Africa declined to confirm or deny its accuracy.
“MultiChoice, the licensed broadcaster in South Africa, continually reviews its DStv products and package offerings to ensure customers receive the best possible value,” a spokesperson said.
They said that some customers may notice differences in how their current DStv package name appears on certain platforms as part of ongoing product testing.
“There is no change to customers’ current subscriptions or the content they receive,” MultiChoice told MyBroadband.
“Where changes to channels, products, or packages are made, affected customers will be informed directly and in good time.”
