The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mourned the death of its National Vice Chairman, South South, Chief Dr. Dan Orbih, who died in London after a brief illness.
The party, in a statement on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, described Orbih as a loyal and committed member whose contributions to the growth and stability of the PDP would not be forgotten.
The party said Orbih’s death was a major loss to his family, the PDP and Nigeria’s democratic community, noting his commitment to democracy and the advancement of the party.
The PDP extended its condolences to his family, relatives, friends, associates and members of the party.
It also commiserated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the death of Orbih, whom it described as Wike’s close confidant, trusted associate and friend.
The party said Orbih’s service and contributions to the PDP and Nigeria’s democratic journey would continue to be remembered.
“As a mark of honour and respect for the late National Vice Chairman, the National Working Committee hereby directs all Peoples Democratic Party offices to fly the Party flag at half-mast for a period of three days,” the statement said.
The PDP prayed that God would grant the bereaved family and Orbih’s loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
