Sanwo-Olu, Security Chiefs Strategize Ahead of Tinubu’s Lagos Visit

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents of enhanced security measures as the state prepares to host President Bola Tinubu and welcome thousands of visitors during the festive season.

Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Tuesday during a security council meeting with top security chiefs at the State House, Marina.

The meeting, according to Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, reviewed ongoing security operations and plans to strengthen safety ahead of end-of-year activities.

“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Omotoso explained that the meeting was convened to prepare for heightened activities in Lagos, including Tinubu’s visit, religious and cultural events, and the expected influx of visitors during the Yuletide.

Political campaigns, recently approved by INEC, were also noted as part of the increased activity in the state.

Security chiefs present included Lagos Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai; Commander, 9 Brigade Ikeja, Brig. Gen. A.O. Owolabi; Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Group Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Ayodele Ogunsan.

Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro.

The governor’s meeting underscores Lagos’ readiness for the festive season, balancing security concerns with the state’s role as a hub for political, cultural, and religious activities.
