NANS moves to sensitise undergraduates on financial independence

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ondo State Joint Campus Council (JCC), said it has finalised arrangements to host its 2026 Entrepreneurship Summit.

The Summit, with the theme: “Students to CEO: Unlocking Ondo State Students’ Potential for Economic Growth,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The summit is being organised in honour of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who has also been designated as the Chief Host of the event in recognition of his contributions to youth development and public service.

According to the leadership of the student body, the initiative was conceived to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world business practice.

It aims to provide tertiary students with practical business knowledge, strategic mentorship, and direct access to growth opportunities capable of turning innovative ideas into commercial enterprises that contribute to the state’s economy.

The summit is expected to serve as a convergence point for a broad spectrum of stakeholders, bringing together students, seasoned entrepreneurs, industry executives, regulatory leaders, and key government officials to discuss practical pathways for youth-driven economic participation.

Speaking on the upcoming event, the Chairman of NANS Ondo State JCC, Comrade Adekanye Mayomi Adeboye, highlighted that the core philosophy behind the “Students to CEO” theme is to prepare undergraduates for the realities of the modern economy before graduation.

Adeboye noted that the council is shifting emphasis beyond traditional academic certificates to equip students with functional skills, market networks, and capacity-building platforms required to thrive in a competitive economic landscape. He urged students across all universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Ondo State to turn out en masse and participate actively in the session.

The organisers also extended an invitation to corporate entities, financial institutions, development partners, and government agencies to support the initiative, emphasising that investing in student-led enterprises remains a critical strategy for sustainable job creation and economic stability.

The NANS Ondo Entrepreneurship Summit 2026 is projected to draw massive participation from young people across the state, with observers describing it as a timely intervention to raise a new generation of student entrepreneurs and business leaders in Ondo State.
