Netflix's 'Mousetrap' follows Ryu Jun-yeol as Moon-jae, a reclusive novelist who wakes up to find that a shadowy imposter known as 'The Rat' has stolen his identity, fortune, and life.
(Rating: 3.5/5)
Mousetrap,' starring Ryu Jun-yeol, takes you. But this isn't just a story about getting your identity back. It gets much more twisted than you'd imagine, and honestly, I really enjoyed it.
About 'Mousetrap'
And then comes Noja (Sul Kyung-gu), a man who initially comes after Moon-jae to settle a debt. But when he realizes there's more to Moon-jae's situation, the two team up to investigate and find the fake Moon-jae. Noja definitely has his own reason for getting involved: he wants his stolen money back.

Inspired by 'The Rat That Ate Fingernails'
The Rat That Ate Fingernails.' According to this myth, if a mouse eats a person's discarded nail clippings, it gains the power to transform into a perfect physical replica of that person and steal their life. '
Mousetrap' takes this old folktale and gives it a modern twist, and honestly, it works really well.
What works and what doesn't
The best part about this series has to be the plot twists. Almost every episode brings a new twist, and while things get a little complicated at times, it never stops being interesting. Every character introduced has a story of their own, and the actors bring their roles to life convincingly. I would've loved to see more of Moo Jin-sung, but given the nature of his character, it's understandable. Overall, Lee Jae-gaon has done an insane job with the storytelling.
Watch it or skip it? Definitely watch it. 'Mousetrap' takes time to get going, but once it does, it pulls you into its twisted world. Is Moon-jae really Moon-jae, or is he the doppelganger? Or is the doppelganger actually the real victim? This one will keep you guessing until the end, and that's what makes it such an enjoyable watch.
Mousetrap' is streaming on Netflix.
