NYWE NYWE NYWE’: Ramaphosa Mocks Opposition As He Defends ANC’S Record Ahead Of Local Elections

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken a swipe at opposition party leaders, accusing them of spending too much time criticising the governing party instead of demonstrating their ability to deliver services to South Africans.

In a video circulating on social media, Ramaphosa is heard mocking opposition leaders who repeatedly complain about the ANC, using the expression “nywe nywe nywe” to dismiss what he portrays as their constant criticism.

The ANC leader went further, arguing that his party remains the only political organisation capable of delivering meaningful results for the people.

His remarks come amid intensifying political campaigning ahead of the November 4, 2026, local government elections, with political parties competing for the support of voters across the country.

The ANC is facing growing pressure from opposition parties seeking to capitalise on public dissatisfaction over service delivery challenges, unemployment, crime, corruption and failing municipal infrastructure.

Ramaphosa’s comments appear to be part of the ANC’s broader effort to defend its record in government while positioning itself as the party best equipped to address the country’s challenges.

However, his remarks are likely to attract criticism from opposition leaders, who have consistently challenged the ANC’s performance and questioned its ability to turn campaign promises into tangible improvements.

With election day approaching, the political battle is increasingly shifting towards questions of credibility, accountability and actual service delivery.

Ultimately, voters will have the final say on whether they agree with Ramaphosa’s assessment or believe opposition parties offer a better alternative.
