Manchester United boss Michael Carrick will be without two key first-team players for his latest clash with Everton compared with his past encounter with the Toffees.

Michael Carrick crossed paths with Everton during his interim managerial reign at Old Trafford after he replaced Ruben Amorim at the Premier League club.

The 45-year-old Manchester United manager visited the Hill Dickinson Stadium back in February and Carrick secured a key Premier League win over David Moyes’ men.

Carrick deployed his Man Utd side in a 4-2-3-1 set-up and the Red Devils picked up a hard-fought 1-0 victory after Benjamin Sesko’s second-half winner in the contest.

Michael Carrick will have to find alternatives to Amad Diallo and Casemiro for Man Utd’s match against Everton

Manchester United legend Michael Carrick will be required to make key changes to his starting XI for the Red Devils’ latest encounter with Everton on Sunday.

Carrick has seen new signings arrive in the summer after Ineos’ spending spree, including the arrivals of Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba.

While Carrick is obviously expected to make tweaks to his United starting XI this time around, there will be two decisions that are out of his control.

Casemiro is no longer at the Premier League club after the former Real Madrid midfielder’s contract expired and he left Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer.

Carrick will now have to choose between Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos to partner with Kobbie Mainoo in the two-man Man Utd midfield this weekend.

Amad Diallo is also a concern for Carrick for the next Premier League clash after the United winger missed the opening two matches of the season due to an injury.

While some reports have speculated that he could be out for up to six weeks, there is no fixed timeline for when Amad Diallo could make his return for United.

Man Utd’s substitutes from the last Premier League match against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium:

• Used substitutes: Benjamin Sesko (replaced Amad Diallo in the 57th minute), Noussair Mazraoui (replaced Bryan Mbeumo in the 76th minute) and Ayden Heaven (replaced Matheus Cunha in the 94th minute)
• Unused substitutes: Altay Bayindir, Joshua Zirkzee, Tyrell Malacia, Manuel Ugarte, Tyler Fletcher and Jack Moorhouse.

Carrick could be forced to use Bryan Mbeumo out on the wing in the absence of Amad and alternate the frontline for the Everton match this weekend.
