KARACHI – The Karachi administration has intensified enforcement operations across the city to improve traffic flow, remove encroachments, curb illegal parking, ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and prevent professional begging. The operations are being conducted under the supervision of deputy commissioners in all districts.
Assistant Commissioner Nazimabad Rabia Syed sealed Paposh Market for violating fire safety measures, while Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad Javeria Ashraf arrested nine people for collecting parking fees illegally on Tariq Road.

Deputy commissioners submitted detailed reports of the operations to Commissioner Karachi on Saturday. According to a handout issued by the Commissioner’s Office, all assistant commissioners remained in the field and carried out operations in different areas in compliance with the commissioner’s directives to address various civic and administrative issues.
Special attention was given to roadside encroachments along major roads experiencing traffic congestion. Encroachments were removed to improve traffic flow and facilitate commuters.

Meanwhile, operations against professional begging continued as part of a campaign aimed at addressing the longstanding problem. Enforcement activities are being carried out daily at different locations across the city.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed deputy commissioners to make the anti-encroachment campaign more effective and ensure that removed encroachments are not re-established. He observed that roadside and footpath encroachments cause considerable inconvenience to pedestrians and stressed the need for sustained action to prevent their recurrence. He directed deputy commissioners to adopt coordinated and comprehensive planning to achieve lasting results.

According to Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem, Assistant Commissioner Nazimabad Rabia Syed sealed Paposh Market over violations of fire safety measures. The market comprises more than 200 shops dealing in various commodities. Rabia Syed supervised the operation to seal the market. Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khosa said efforts were underway to curb professional begging and address the presence of drug addicts in the district. According to Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khosa, Assistant Commissioner Aram Bagh Usama bin Ashraf arrested seven beggars and drug addicts. Among those apprehended were a transgender person and two drug addicts disguised as a clown, who were arrested from Burns Road and handed over to the police. Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad Javeria Ashraf arrested nine people for illegally collecting parking fees on Tariq Road, and FIRs were registered against them. Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi said operations against the illegal collection of parking fees would continue to provide relief to citizens.
