A moped rider was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in New Haven on Monday morning, police said.
Officers were called to the area of Grand and Ferry Street around 9:46 a.m. for a report of a moped rider struck by a vehicle. When they arrived, they found the moped rider partially under a blue SUV, according to police.

The person was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said their initial investigation revealed the moped rider was traveling on Grand Avenue toward a bridge when the SUV was turning into a driveway in front of the moped, and they collided.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene, police said.
No further details were immediately available. The crash remains under investigation.
