Jos killing: Miyetti Allah reacts, warns against unverified allegations

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Plateau State Chapter, has condemned the killing of travellers in Jos South Local Government Area of the state, urging security agencies to investigate the incident and prosecute those responsible.

In a statement issued by its Plateau State Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the association described the killing as “senseless and unacceptable” and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

MACBAN also called for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.

The statement comes amid renewed concerns over attacks on travellers and rising tensions among communities in Plateau State.

The association, however, cautioned against blaming the Fulani community for the incident without credible evidence or the conclusion of investigations by security agencies.

“There is no basis for anyone to attribute this unfortunate incident to the Fulani community without evidence,” it said.

MACBAN urged residents to avoid spreading unverified information, false accusations and hate speech, warning that such actions could further heighten tensions in the state.

It also called on individuals circulating false or defamatory allegations against the Fulani community to desist, noting that such conduct could attract legal consequences.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence and cooperation with security agencies, urging residents to remain calm while investigations continue.
