Cape Town water disruptions planned across suburbs

Cape Town residents are being urged to prepare for possible water supply disruptions as planned maintenance and testing take place across the city from 24 to 31 October, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will carry out pipe repairs, valve replacements and infrastructure testing in several areas, with some households potentially experiencing water outages or reduced pressure.

Which areas will be affected?

According to the City’s official maintenance schedule, affected areas include Stikland, Clifton, Woodstock, Philippi, Mitchells Plain, Bellville South, Mfuleni, Kommetjie, Bloekombos, Wallacedene and Epping Industria 2.

On Saturday, 24 October, parts of Stikland and Clifton will experience water shutdowns. Woodstock is scheduled for testing on 26 and 27 October, followed by further maintenance on 29 October.

On Tuesday, 27 October, disruptions are also planned for Schaapkraal in Philippi, Beacon Valley in Mitchells Plain, Sacks Circle in Bellville South, parts of Mfuleni and Kommetjie, while Bloekombos and Wallacedene face maintenance from 18:00 until completion.

Further testing is scheduled for Khayelitsha, Kalkfontein, Saxenberg Park, Tamboerskloof, Somerset West, Helderrand and Gardens between 26 and 29 October. Parts of Epping Industria 2 are scheduled for maintenance on 31 October.

The City advises residents to ‘store enough water in advance’ in clean, sealed containers and keep taps closed during disruptions.
