John Antwi scored twice as Hearts of Oak made a winning start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season with a convincing 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Sunday.The result gives Bosnian coach Nebojsa Kapor a perfect start to his Hearts tenure, while Kwaku Danso's first league game in charge of Chelsea ended in a heavy defeat.Hearts needed only four minutes to take the lead. Antwi reacted quickest to a scramble inside the Chelsea penalty area and fired the ball into the net to give the Phobians an early advantage.Chelsea responded and came close to levelling the score when Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare made a costly error while trying to control the ball. Jonah Attuquaye was presented with an opportunity to make it 1-1, but he blasted his effort over the crossbar.That miss proved costly as Hearts regained control and doubled their lead in the 37th minute. Antwi rose inside the box to meet a cross and headed home for his second goal of the afternoon.The two-goal advantage gave Hearts a strong platform going into the break, with Kapor's side showing the attacking threat they will hope can improve on their modest scoring record from last season.Chelsea were unable to produce a response after the interval, while Hearts continued to look the more dangerous side.Kader Mahmoud made an immediate impact on his Hearts debut in the 86th minute, heading home Ransford Mensah's well-delivered cross to make it 3-0.Ali Mohammed then completed the scoring from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to cap a dominant opening-day performance.The victory moves Hearts of Oak to the top of the Premier League table after the first round of matches, with the Phobians making an early statement under Kapor.Hearts will next face Bibiani GoldStars, while Chelsea will return home to take on Dreams FC as Danso looks to oversee a response to Sunday's defeat.
