President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria, SCSN, Malam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed.

Baba Ahmed, a respected administrator and Islamic leader, died in the early hours of Tuesday after years of service to Islam and the nation.

In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, Tinubu described the deceased as an impactful leader who steered the affairs of the SCSN with wisdom, foresight and commitment to unity, justice and peaceful coexistence.

The President recalled his longstanding relationship with Baba-Ahmed, particularly during the build-up to the 2011 election and subsequent years, noting his counsel and support during the 2023 presidential campaign.

Tinubu also acknowledged Baba-Ahmed’s role in sustaining the Council’s voice on national issues, fostering understanding and promoting moral renewal and social justice.
