Residents of the Ga Central Municipality have taken to the streets to protest the recurring flooding that has affected communities in the area over the years.
The aggrieved residents say inadequate and poorly maintained drainage systems have worsened the situation, resulting in the destruction of properties, displacement of families and significant losses whenever there are heavy rains.
The protesters are expected to present a petition to the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, demanding urgent action to address the municipality’s persistent drainage challenges.
They are also appealing to the government and relevant authorities to rehabilitate, expand and improve the existing drainage network to reduce the risk of flooding and protect lives and property.
According to the residents, they need concrete action rather than continued promises, as flooding remains a persistent threat to communities across the municipality.
They are therefore calling for a comprehensive and lasting solution to the drainage problems to prevent further destruction during heavy downpours.
