Gauteng can expect a fine, warm day. A “high” UVB sunburn index is in effect, meaning precautions against prolonged sun exposure are worth taking.

Mpumalanga sees morning fog patches over the Lowveld and south-eastern Highveld. Otherwise, expect fine and warm conditions.
Limpopo follows a similar pattern. Morning fog patches in the Lowveld clear to fine and warm conditions, turning hot over the Western Bushveld.
North West stays fine and warm throughout the day.
The Free State stays partly cloudy and warm, though fine in the northern parts.
KwaZulu-Natal sees morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm. Isolated showers and thundershowers are possible in the south. Coastal winds stay moderate easterly to north-easterly, turning fresh in the north at times.
Isolated showers are also expected in parts of the Northern Cape today. Specific province-wide conditions for the Northern Cape, Western Cape, and Eastern Cape weren’t detailed in the sources available at time of writing, only their status ahead of Thursday’s system.
An intense cut-off low is expected to sweep into the** Western** and Northern Cape from Thursday into** Friday (3-4 September). **SAWS has already issued detailed advance warnings.
SAWS has issued a yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall over the Overberg and Garden Route district municipalities in the Western Cape on Thursday. This warning covers flooding risk to roads and settlements.
SAWS has also issued** a yellow level 4 warning** for damaging wind over the Namakwa district in the Northern Cape, plus parts of the Cape Winelands, Central Karoo, and Little Karoo districts in the Western Cape.
This warning runs from Thursday afternoon into Friday.
A third yellow level 4 warning covers damaging wind and waves along the coast between Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay from Thursday. This threatens port and harbour disruption and danger to navigation at sea.
Very cold, wet, and windy conditions are expected across both provinces once the system moves through. Small stock farmers in particular should prepare.
It’s a proper reminder that a calm, sunny spring day like today can sit right before a genuinely serious system just a few days out.
