Kenya Harlequin Queens beat Kiambaa to win Embu 7s

Kenya Harlequin Queens 7s have been crowned Embu 7s champions after defeating Kiambaa Ladies 14–0 in the final played at Embu Stadium on Sunday evening.

Having suffered a defeat to Kiambaa in the pool stage, Quins entered the final determined to avenge their earlier loss and started the contest strongly.

Aware of the threat posed by Kiambaa, Quins took the game to their opponents from the opening whistle, with Yvette Aketch picking the ball at the back of a ruck before racing through to score the opening try and give Quins a 7–0 lead.

Kiambaa responded with a resilient defensive display, keeping Quins at bay for the remainder of the opening half as they went into the break trailing by just seven points.

The second half saw Quins continue to press for another score, with Freshia Oduor breaking through after latching onto a grubber kick before diving over the line to extend Quins’ advantage to 14–0.

Kiambaa fought to find a way back into the contest but could not breach the Quins defence, as the Nairobi side held on to secure the Embu 7s title and complete their revenge over their pool-stage conquerors.
