Myburgh is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Workwell Research Unit for Economic & Management Sciences at North-West University.
He is a recognised Digital Forensic Expert and boasts multiple certifications, including as an eDiscovery specialist and as a Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Investigator.
Myburgh also established and then commanded the SAPS’s National Computer Crime Investigation Unit, and, following his time in law enforcement, launched Cyanre, The Digital Forensic Lab in 2004.
In 2014, he was also appointed as the Director of LexTrado EDS and in 2024, he became the CEO of Digital Forensics SA (DFSA).
In 2025, Myburgh’s diligence and dedication to cybersecurity were recognised with him being one of the first 10 South Africans inducted into the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame.
