Technical head to coordinate Ghana’s U15, U17 and U20 teams

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have agreed to appoint a technical head to coordinate the development pathway of the countrys U15, U17 and U20 national teams. The decision forms part of measures agreed between Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and the GFA leadership, headed by President Kurt Okraku, to strengthen Ghanas national teams and improve the development of young footballers.Under the new structure, the U15, U17 and U20 national teams will each have their own dedicated technical team. The technical head will be responsible for coordinating the development pathway across the three age groups, with the aim of creating a more connected system for player progression. The Ministry and GFA also agreed that appropriate competition structures will be established to support the development pathway and provide the various youth teams with the necessary competitive opportunities. The decision comes amid broader concerns about the progression of young Ghanaian players through the national-team system and their transition towards the senior Black Stars. The new structure is expected to provide greater coordination between the different age groups rather than having the teams operate as separate units. However, the Ministrys statement did not name the person who will be appointed as the technical head or provide details on when the appointment will be made. The measure is one of several reforms agreed by the Sports Ministry and GFA as part of efforts to establish a clearer long-term development pathway for Ghanaian football.
