AI summary
Namibian grooming brand Joe’s Fade Cuts has expanded its footprint to Walvis Bay, creating seven jobs and setting its sights on further growth in the coastal town and other parts of the country.
The new branch forms part of the company’s broader expansion strategy.
Founder Joel Mwatilefu said the move was prompted by growing demand for quality men’s grooming services and the opportunity to take the brand into a new market.
He said Walvis Bay was identified as a growing market with strong potential, while the expansion would also allow the business to contribute to the local economy through job creation.
“The decision to expand to Walvis Bay was driven by the demand for quality men’s grooming services and the opportunity to bring the Joe’s Fade Cuts experience to a new market. We saw Walvis Bay as a growing market with great potential while also seeing an opportunity to contribute to the local economy and create employment,” Mwatilefu said.
The new outlet has so far created seven jobs, with the business placing particular emphasis on employment and skills development for young Namibians.
Mwatilefu said the company hopes to increase its workforce as the branch attracts more customers while also using the business as a platform to equip young people with practical skills in barbering and men’s grooming.
“The new Walvis Bay branch has created seven jobs so far. Creating employment opportunities, especially for young Namibians, is very important to us. As the branch grows and customer demand increases, we plan to create more jobs and provide opportunities for young people to develop skills in barbering and men’s grooming,” he said.
The branch provides professional haircuts, fades and full men’s grooming, including a VIP experience. Customers can book or walk in. The new outlet offers a modern, comfortable environment suited to Walvis Bay.
The company will maintain the same standards across all branches.
“The Walvis Bay branch offers professional haircuts, fades and full men’s grooming services, including our VIP grooming experience. Customers can make appointments or walk in depending on their schedules. While we maintain the same Joe’s Fade Cuts standard across all our branches, the Walvis Bay branch has been designed to provide a modern and comfortable grooming experience suited to the local market,” Mwatilefu said.
Expanding into a new town presented several challenges, including finding a suitable location, establishing the branch, recruiting the right team and introducing the brand to a new market. Mwatilefu said the company relied on planning, teamwork and marketing to overcome these hurdles.
“Expanding into a new town came with challenges, including finding the right location, setting up the branch, recruiting the right team and introducing the brand to a new market. We overcame these challenges through proper planning, teamwork, marketing and remaining focused on delivering the quality service that our customers expect from Joe’s Fade Cuts,” he said.
The company is now looking beyond the Walvis Bay branch, with plans to expand Joe’s Fade Cuts into more parts of Namibia.
He said the immediate focus in Walvis Bay is to establish the outlet as a leading men’s grooming destination while creating more employment and skills development opportunities.
“Our goal is to continue expanding Joe’s Fade Cuts to more parts of Namibia while maintaining the quality and standards that have built our brand. In Walvis Bay, we want to grow the branch into a leading men’s grooming destination and create more employment and training opportunities,” he said.
The business is also diversifying beyond its core barbering services, with plans to expand into men’s grooming products and training through its academy. Mwatilefu said the broader ambition is to build a home-grown grooming brand that can create opportunities for young people while eventually competing beyond Namibia’s borders. “We are also expanding into men’s grooming products and training through our academy. Ultimately, our vision is to build Joe’s Fade Cuts into a recognised Namibian grooming brand that creates opportunities for young people and can compete beyond Namibia,” he concluded.
The Walvis Bay expansion comes as the company seeks to position itself not only as a grooming business but also as a platform for employment, entrepreneurship and skills development among young Namibians.
