<div class="text-long"><p><span>PRETORIA - S</span>uspended police general Feroz Khan’s testimony before the Madlanga Commission has been postponed to 28 September after he failed to appear for his scheduled hearing.</p><p>Khan was expected to testify on Tuesday, but his legal team informed the commission that he was medically unfit to attend.</p><p>The commission has since ordered Khan to undergo an independent medical assessment to establish whether he is fit to testify.</p><blockquote><p><strong>READ | </strong><a href="https://www.enca.com/news-top-stories-videos/feroz-khan-set-appeal-labour-court-ruling"><strong>Feroz Khan set to appeal Labour Court ruling</strong></a></p></blockquote><p>The order follows scrutiny of medical certificates submitted on Khan’s behalf, including an allegation that one of the certificates had been backdated.</p><p>Khan has been given until next Tuesday to undergo the assessment, with the independent medical report due to the commission by 15 September.</p><p>The suspended general is also expected to challenge a recent Labour Court ruling that allows the South African Police Service to proceed with disciplinary proceedings against him.</p><p>The disciplinary process includes a recommendation that Khan be dismissed.</p><p><strong>Read more: </strong><a href="https://www.enca.com/news-top-stories/madlanga-orders-khan-testify-or-undergo-independent-medical-evaluation"><strong>Madlanga orders Khan to testify or undergo independent medical evaluation</strong></a></p></div>
