Previously, South Africans who wanted to hot-wax their chains needed to go the full DIY route, or try and get hold of expensive international products that often required hours of curing time. Not anymore.

Squirt recently launched their Performance Hot Wax, and it’s a game-changer. You still need to set up a pot in your garage or workshop, but that’s about the hardest part of the whole process. Simply clean your chain thoroughly, dip it into the hot wax in the pot, pull it out and it’s ready to install on your bike again, after a simple pull-through between your forefinger and thumb to ensure smooth articulation.

You’ll be blown away by the performance of a waxed chain: it’s ultra low-friction and so quiet; it naturally repels dust, water and grit; and one wax should last at least 30 ‘normal’ lube cycles.
