The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim and arrested eleven suspected armed robbers in separate operations across the state.
In a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said one Favour Innocent, female, of Ajyga Village, who was kidnapped from her residence on August 3, 2026 at about 9:00pm, was rescued on August 4, 2026 at about 8:00am in Nunku Forest Area, Akwanga Local Government Area.
The rescue was carried out through the combined efforts of Police operatives, local hunters and community youths.
According to the statement, the victim was taken to the Primary Health Centre, Andaha, for medical attention, where she was treated, discharged in good condition and reunited with her family.
The statement added that investigation was ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In another operation, on September 4, 2026 at about 2:00am, the Command received information that a Guest House at Area One, Masaka, was invaded by armed robbers who robbed lodgers of mobile phones, cash and other valuables.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered the deployment of a patrol team to the scene.
Upon sighting the patrol van, the suspects fled but were pursued to their hideout where nine adults and two minors were arrested.
The adult suspects were identified as: Auwal Yunusa, 20; Saltsu Kabiru, 20; Umar Saleh, 22; Abubakar Hassan, 26; Musa Yahaya, 20; Seth Aaron, 20; Victor Hyelanpali, 19; Gift Ezra, 20; and Suleiman Abdullahi, 18.
The minors are: James Ayuba, 16, and Fahad Abubakar, 15.
Items recovered included one locally fabricated revolver gun, four cutlasses, one fabricated cutlass, two knives, two bedsheets, eight SIM cards, three head warmer caps, two scissors, counterfeit foreign currencies, and original documents belonging to one Kabiru Abubakar.
The Commissioner directed the DPO, Masaka Division, to trace the parents of the two minors or arraign them before the appropriate Juvenile Court.
He also ordered the immediate transfer of the adult suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Lafia, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Command said efforts were being intensified to arrest other fleeing suspects and recover the remaining stolen items.
The Commissioner commended Police personnel, local hunters and community youths for their support, particularly in the rescue of the kidnapped victim.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations and community partnership to combat crime in the state.
The Command urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist in preventing crime and apprehending criminal elements.
