Police Trains Enforcement Teams Ahead of October 1 Traffitech-GH Rollout

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with its private-sector partner, has trained selected Police personnel and public-sector stakeholders ahead of the operationalisation of the Traffitech-GH road traffic enforcement system.

The training, held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho, Volta Region, formed part of preparations for the nationwide rollout of Traffitech-GH on October 1, 2026.

It was the fifth and final session in a series of nationwide enforcement training programmes organised ahead of the commencement of the system.

The 45 participants included MTTD personnel from Ho as well as representatives from the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

Participants were introduced to the operations of the Traffitech-GH system and briefed on the new Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).

Key areas covered included automated road traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, the implementation of the Traffitech-GH system and the process for contesting automated traffic offences.
The selected regional back-office team also received practical training in the use of the in-vehicle fixed camera and the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera.

As part of the preparations, the Volta Regional back office at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho has been equipped with the updated Traffitech-GH software to support the implementation of the system.

The Traffitech-GH system is expected to commence operations nationwide on October 1, 2026, under Regulation 242.
