Adeshina Backs Emerging Athletes With ₦200,000 High Jump Prize At Athletic Heat Meet
Nigeria’s high jump record holder, Temitope Adeshina, has sponsored the women’s high jump event at the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet, with ₦200,000 in prize money for the top four finishers.
The competition will take place on Saturday, 7 November, at the YabaTech Stadium in Lagos as part of activities marking a decade of the athletics event.
Under the prize-money arrangement, the winner will receive ₦100,000, while the second-placed athlete will earn ₦50,000. The third and fourth finishers will take home ₦30,000 and ₦20,000 respectively.
Adeshina’s support comes after an impressive 2026 season in which she won the NCAA indoor and outdoor high jump titles for Texas Tech Track and Field, further establishing her position among Nigeria’s leading athletes on the international stage.
A Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and two-time African Championships silver medallist, Adeshina has continued to make her mark in international athletics.
Her sponsorship of the event is aimed at providing emerging athletes with an opportunity to compete for financial rewards while showcasing their abilities.
The initiative also forms part of Athletic Heat’s 10th anniversary celebrations, which recognise the competition’s contribution to athletics and the development of emerging talents over the past decade.
