MANEB Releases 2026 MSCE Results, National Pass Rate at 59.26%

The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has released the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results, with 111,510 out of 188,169 candidates passing.

According to MANEB, the results translate into a national pass rate of 59.26 percent.

The results, released today in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, show a notable performance gap between male and female candidates.

A total of 98,020 male candidates sat for the examinations, with 63,037 passing, representing a pass rate of 62.80 percent.

Among female candidates, 48,473 out of 90,149 passed, giving a pass rate of 53.77 percent.

In terms of distinctions, Karonga District emerged as the best-performing district, recording a distinction rate of 11.41 percent.

Dedza followed with 9.89 percent, while Rumphi ranked third with 8.54 percent.

The results were announced in a press release signed by MANEB Executive Director Dorothy Nampota.

Overall, the 2026 results show that fewer than six in every ten candidates who sat for the MSCE examinations attained a passing grade, while male candidates recorded a higher pass rate than their female counterparts.
