Orlando Pirates legend Moeneeb Josephs has highlighted what he believes is the Buccaneers’ biggest weakness.
The retired goalkeeper feels the team is well-balanced and capable of conquering Africa, but believes they have one major problem.
Despite scoring more goals than any other team in the PSL last season, Pirates also missed the most chances.
Their inability to kill off matches has been a recurring concern in recent years.
Moeneeb not happy with Pirates in front of goals
Following their 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United in the Carling Knockout Cup, Josephs felt Abdeslam Ouaddou‘s men were wasteful in front of goal.
“For our own sanity, we should kill games off. If I look at this game against Sekhukhune, they thought they were going to be aggressive. In the first half, they were physical, but the way we controlled the ball, it was hard to catch us,” he said on SoccerBeat.
Moeneeb argued that Pirates players were more relaxed in front of goals when leading.
“We need to change our attitude. As soon as we notice our opposition feel defeated, our mindset changes as well. I think that is something that we can work on as well,” he added.
“We need to have a killer instinct and finish things off. It’s like we feel sorry for teams and would rather keep the ball away from them. I see the coach on the side losing his head as well.”
Moeneeb Josephs spent five years with Orlando Pirates, winning six trophies with the Soweto giants.
