Hollywood Producer Harvey Weinstein Sentenced To 15 Years For Sexual Assault

Former Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his conviction for sexually assaulting a production assistant in 2006.

A New York court handed down the sentence on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, marking the latest legal development in the ongoing sexual assault cases against the former movie executive.

The 74-year-old was originally convicted in New York in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison for assaulting production assistant Miriam Haley and former actress Jessica Mann.

However, the New York Court of Appeals overturned that conviction in 2024, citing procedural errors during his initial trial and ordering a retrial.

During his retrial in Manhattan, a jury convicted Weinstein of sexually assaulting Haley, while acquitting him of charges involving another accuser, former model Kaja Sokola. Charges related to Mann were dropped after a separate trial ended in a deadlocked jury.

In addition to his New York conviction, Weinstein faces legal troubles in California, where he was convicted of rape in 2022. He is currently awaiting resentencing in Los Angeles after an appellate court overturned his initial 16-year sentence in that state.

Weinstein, whose past legal cases helped spark the global #MeToo movement, remains in custody at the Rikers Island correctional facility in New York.
